The Mark and M.E. Salon is popular for being the Home of the 10 Minute Brazilian. We are also known for our sense of humor. We make waxing fun! Not only do we wax women, we also wax men. The Gentleman’s Brazilian is a very popular service at our salon. But we have to admit that some men are more intimidating than others to wax.

A woman messaged me about her daughter and a friend coming in for a Brazilian. It was their first time and they wanted to know what they needed to do to prepare. I told her the usual….let it grow for at least two weeks, have clean dry skin and make sure they were hydrated. The mom wanted to know if they should bring frozen peas with them to sit on when the service was over? I told her it was an option but not necessary. Our exchanges were hysterical and I couldn’t wait to meet these girls. When they walked into the salon, I asked them if they brought the peas. The one girl started to laugh, reached into her purse, and pulled out an ice pack. Close enough.

We try to play fun music at Mark and M.E. to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. Yesterday was no exception. We jammed to old-school music like KC and the Sunshine Band, Bobby Brown, Earth Wind and Fire and the list goes on. My day started at 9am and I was really busy. It was a super fun day and I found myself singing throughout most of it. At one point, a client commented on what a good mood I was in. I told her I was boogying through the bush!

I have a friend in Atlanta who sent me a story yesterday that I must share. Even children know the power of the Brazilian.

I have a great story for you — perfect! Everyday at my lunch hour I go next door to the outdoor track to run/walk. Today was a perfect 88 degrees so I did just that then went into the Aquatic center to shower/change to go back to work.
As I was drying off a little girl was getting dressed by her mom to leave. She was probably all of 5 years old. She watched me get ready and then said to me in a very serious voice — my mommy gets all of her hair down there taken off and my daddy likes it! The mom was mortified by this and tried to hush her up. But the little girl continued to tell me that she heard her daddy say how happy he was when she visited the hair doctor!

Waxing is completely safe when you’re pregnant as long as the technician takes extra precautions. Yesterday, we had three nine month pregnant women get Brazilians at Mark and M.E. The one woman had never had a Brazilian before. Her cousin convinced her it was necessary preparation for the birth, which I completely agree with. She kept her eyes covered the entire time and repeatedly told me how much it hurt. I reminded her that she was having a baby in a few days and the wax should have felt like a back rub. Her response, “This ain’t no back rub!” Yea, I guess I was exaggerating just a bit.

Hurry….hurry….only 3 more work days before Mark and Mary Elizabeth disappear into the bush for two weeks!   marknmesalon@gmail.com  or 585-473-7360

I can never predict what is going to come out of a woman’s mouth when I give her a Brazilian. The absurd and bizarre responses I witness every day is one of the reasons I love my job so much. It is also why I have kept my Hose Down Your Hoo-Ha blog going for so many years. As a woman was getting off my table last week, she said “I can feel the wind beneath my wings!” Although it wasn’t breezy in the room, I understood her analogy.

Everyone has a hobby. I LOVE to write. I like funny, sexy, and even shocking kind of material. I just saw another review of my 3rd book in A Promise of Passion series that I had to share. Hoping to finish the 4th one on vacation next week!
“Wow just wow. Didn’t know exactly what was going to happen. Nesser ties things together do expertly. Now for the next one.”

A woman came into the salon who had only been waxed by me once before. It had been close to a year ago since we first met. I could feel her anxiety about getting a Brazilian so I tried to engage her in a lively conversation. Suddenly, she said, “I remember how you tried to butter me up last time.” I never thought about it that way. I just try to make each client feel as comfortable as possible with my constant chatter. Needless to say, I thought the placement of the butter in this pic was extremely apropos.
