I think today is a great day for everybody to spread a little happiness. I plan to spread it with a popsicle stick and some hot wax. How about you?
When I was in middle school, I wanted to transport chocolate and licorice around the country. It was a strange career aspiration for a young girl, but it was what I really wanted to do. Now, forty years later, I’m making women sweet as candy. Driving a semi….waxing a v-j-jay…strange comparison but accurate, don’t you think?
Just a reminder there are only 8 weeks left of summer and, after Labor Day weekend, M.E. will be taking two weeks off to rest her parts and focus on her next book. Last night Mark & I went to Hattie’s to celebrate another great week at Mark and M.E. I met a really nice couple at the bar who were from Chicago that I talked to for quite awhile. When they were leaving, they told Mark they thought his wife was funny. He agreed. Growing up, I never thought of myself that way. If I have a good sense of humor then I have to give all the credit to my job. The body part I wax is a little funny looking, sounds a little funny to say and is a pretty funny thing to do for a living. I love making men and women laugh through their wax and sometimes the conversations are outrageous, which makes the experience even more fun! It’s ironic that waxing v-j-jays for a living has given me a sense of humor, but I’ll take it. I’m feeling very grateful today. Happy Sunday everyone!!
Love sharing salon firsts with you. A girl was drinking at a bonfire one night and telling her friends how excited she was to get waxed the next day. She told them she especially loved having between her cheeks waxed. They didn’t believe her. While I was waxing that part of her the following morning, she recorded the image on snapchat and shared it with her friends. We even showed them all the hair I removed on the strip.
Yesterday I removed a large skin tab from a client’s bikini line which made me feel like a doctor. In my 3rd Happy book, The Happy Trail, I wrote a poem about being a doctor. It does have a naughty word in it, but since our president uses the “P” word, so can I.
Today I removed a skin tab the size of a chewed piece of gum off of a woman’s bikini line. It was removed by accident but she was grateful she wouldn’t have to pay the dermatologist to take it off. Sometimes I like to play doctor. Come to think of it, I’ve spent my career allowing my clients to play doctor in a cleaner, more sterile environment!
Mark and Mary Elizabeth are playing hooky today, but the salon will be open at ten like always and our very capable staff will be there to take care of all your beautifying needs! Have a great day!
